The English-Speaking Union Ukraine, the UK Embassy in Ukraine , All-Ukraine newspaper “English language and Culture” and Pearson Longman Publishing House in Ukraine have great pleasure in announcingthe English Writing Competition.

The competition is open to Ukrainian school and university students in full-time education at the time of the competition.

Each competitor should write an original essay in English on the theme :

“How should Ukraine develop its international relations over the next 10 years and what kind of Ukraine do you want to see in 10 years? ” 

Essay requirements:

  • Your last name should appear in the upper

right corner of each page of your essay.

  • The essay must be original.  We want to hear your individual voice in your writing, representing your own research and ideas.
  • Plagiarism will result in disqualification from this, and any future, English-Speaking Union Competitions.
  • The length of an essay should be minimum 500 and maximum 600words.
  • If a quotation is used, be sure to identify the source of information.
  • The essay must be typed with double spacing, 14 point Times New Roman.

The judges will assess the essays according to the following criteria:

  •        Contents, reasoning and evidence
  •        Development and analysis of  arguments
  •        Use of language
  •        Coherence, logics
  •        Structure

The Deadline for submitting essays is 15 May 2014.

The results will be announced in September 2014.

The best essays will be published in All-Ukraine newspaper “English language and Culture” and the winners will be awarded.
