Shakespeare Competition of the ESU Ukraine

On Thursday, 23 April, 2015  Shakespeare Competition 2015, organized by the ESU Ukraine,  took place at the Assembly Hall of Kirovograd State Pedagogical University.

23 April is a prominent date for those, who are keen on English. It is not only the birthday of the Bard of Avon, but also the UN English language day.

This year forty seven participants representing different educational establishments of Kirovograd region took part in the Competition. They were reciting Shakespeare’s sonnets, discovering  and exploring the beauty of complexity of Shakespeare's poetic language and classic themes.  Sonnets 130 and 116 turned out to be the most popular, as they were recited most often.

Time flew fast and when the last participant finished her presentation, the judges took 20 minutes break to choose the winner. Finally, the Chairman of ESU Ukraine Margaryta Danilko presented the winners. Gulak Anna, the 2 year KSPU student, and Ivanchenko Eugene, the 3 year KSPU student, took the third place. Volkova Olesia, the 1 year KSPU student, was the runner-up. And the winner of Shakespeare Competition 2015 was Kolesnik Karina, the 2 year KSPU student. We wish them good luck in their further undertakings!

Shakespeare Competition proves, that such themes as love, passion, hate and friendship are everlasting and beyond any language. They will always find response in people’s hearts.
